1. Elite point guards do battle.

Emmanuel Mudiay and Prime Prep (Dallas) will do battle against JaQuan Lyle and Huntington Prep (Huntington, W.Va.) Saturday at the Spalding Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass.

Mudiay, an SMU signee, is the No. 2 point guard in the 2014 class, Lyle is No. 8.

Who will win the matchup?

2. Carter’s big visit.

Norcross (Norcross, Ga.) defensive lineman Lorenzo Carter will head to Baton Rouge, La., Friday for his visit with the Tigers.

Word is Georgia is the team to beat for Carter, who is ranked No. 3 among defensive ends in the ESPN 300.

Can the Tigers make up some ground?

3. What will Kennard do next?

Franklin (Franklin, Ohio) shooting guard Luke Kennard has been on a scoring tear lately, averaging just north of 40 points per game.

Last week he broke the school record for points in a game with 53 while North Carolina head coach Roy Williams sat courtside.

What’s the 6-foot-5 scorer got in store for this week?

4. Football coaches are baaaack!

The NCAA’s dead-period for college football coaches will end on Wednesday. The dead-period, which prohibits any in-person contact between colleges and recruits, was extended 12 days this year until the conclusion of all-star games.

Back on the recruiting trail they go.

5. Towns searching for another quadruple-double.

St. Joseph (Metuchen, N.J.) forward Karl Towns posted a quadruple-double – 20 points, 14 rebounds, 10 blocks and 10 assists – in a win last week.

Sunday he’ll face DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) at the Spalding Hoophall Classic.

Can he posted similar numbers on a big stage?
